Recovered! Katie’s Graduation Quilt
Sandii made the quilt from a commercial pattern. It is 108″ by 120″. It is machine pieced and machine quilted in 2009. The main colors are purple, pink, lime green, white, blue, and turquoise. She used very bright, primary colors which she calls “so loud you need sunglasses.” It was supposed to be a graduation gift for her granddaughter, and it was near completion when it was destroyed.
This quilt, though burned, has now been returned.
Dutch Girl Quilt
Angelina S. Carter’s Dutch Girl quilt was last seen at Wurtsmith Air Force Base during January 1991 when it was being packed into a moving box. Her mother made this full-size quilt for her in 1974 when she was seven years old. It is possible that the quilt may have been seen in Bayonne, New Jersey by anybody at the moving company where crates would have been loaded up onto a ship to go overseas. This was a military move and they know that the boxes were placed in crates and sealed in their front yard. The crates were not to be opened until they received them in their new home in England, however they know that some crates were opened because other things were missing and a desk was disassembled.
Each block has a white background . Angelina’s missing quilt looks very much a Sunbonnet Sue quilt but with black borders. Each dutch girl is made of different fabrics and hand appliqued. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued and hand quilted. If it has a label, it may have the name of her mother, Carole DiSanto. This is a full-size quilt that was made for Angelina when she was 6 or 7 years old.

Two Trip Around the World Quilts
Eileen Burke is hoping to find two Trip Around the World quilts which she made. The quilts were last seen in 2005 in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. One is twin size, and the other is double size, approximately 81" by 81".
One quilt is a bright rainbow Trip Around the World quilt with black, white, and pink with lots of busy prints. This one is a finished comforter, tied with embroidery floss in colors to match, which made a design on the plain black backing. The finished one has a hand-embroidered label in rainbow colors that says, "For Alanna, Love Mom, 1996."
The other is a twilight version, very plain and somber. This one is only a top. It is made mostly of men’s shirts in lavender, blue, green, and navy blue. This one seems to "move" when you look at it.

Love, Lorraine

Love, Lorrain
Kiki Zusan is searching for a quilt that she made for Lorraine Zusan. The quilt was last seen in March 2009 at Cerenity Care Center – Marian Care Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They assume it was lost, possibly in the laundry.
This is a lap-size quilt. Kiki used a commercial pattern which is a modification of "Sailing Flags" which is a modified "Lazy Log Cabin" design. The quilt is hand pieced and machine quilted with a star pattern. It was made in 2001 from her mother’s leftover scrapps. Some fabric is a herringbone-type design using white, yellows, and golds. Another is an aqua-colored background with mice. One is a red calico with small flowers. The five top fabrics in the picture to the left were used on the front of the quilt. The back is white with small geometric designs as seen in the bottom of the picture to the left. There is a label on the back that says, "Love, Lorraine" and "Hand pieced by Kiki Zusan Christmas 2001."

Desert Storm Quilt
Katy Wessner made her first quilt as a gift for her grandson, who said he would cherish it forever. He had it for a year or two before, he lost it in North Carolina when his girlfriend threw him out. Katy thinks he was living either in Raleigh or Charlotte at the time.
The twin-size quilt was made with bandanas featuring Desert Storm themes. There were bandanas with Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine themes. The main colors are blue and white. She used ticking fabric as a border. Katy hand quilted planes into the quilt, and she quilted around the main motifs. This quilt does not have a label.

Recovered! Simrill Smith’s 8th Birthday Quilt

Simrill's Birthday Quilt by Michelle Hiskey
Michelle Hiskey was searching for Simrill Smith’s 8th Birthday Quilt. It was last seen during early 2009. Thankfully during the last part of June 2009, the quilt was found hidden under a sheet on another bed. They had already searched there, but there was so much static that they only saw the sheet. Another happy ending!
This quilt was made from t-shirts and scraps. It is between a twin and full size. The main colors are white and light colors with patches of green, blue, and yellow. Some of the fabrics are special year 2000 fabrics. There are also hand prints made with fabric paint. The label on the back says, “For Simrill, I hope you enjoy this until you are 88 years old. Love, Joey”
Ashley’s Texas Quilt
On June 11, 2009 Mona Alloway’s quilt was stolen out of a truck parked in the Hobby Lobby parking lot at the Forum Mall in San Antonio, Texas. The truck was broken into. The Garmin GPS and an AT&T phone were taken along with a bag containing three quilt tops and three sheets for the quilt backs.
This quilt features the Texas flag, pictures of ranch horses, longhorn cattle, goats, dogs, and cats, Texas wildflowers, and bluebonnets in the white borders along with red and blue bandanas. This is a queen to king size quilt, mainly made of red, white, and blue.
