Flower Quilts

Aug 04 2006

Carrie Trettel Zizza hopes to recover three flower quilts made by her grandmother, Olive Trettel. She believes they were appliqued with tulips or flowers on a white background, and they were probably hand quilted. The quilts were probably made in the late 1960′s or early 70′s. These quilts were last seen on Clopper Avenue in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Her parents had been going through a messy divorce, so she didn’t have much contact with her grandmother after they divorced. After her grandparents died, she was told that her grandparent’s friend named Vi with an Italian-sounding last name took the quilts. Vi’s husband had bought the house they were living in. Carrie believes their children may still have the quilts.

When Carrie was only ten, her grandmother had told her and her two sisters that the quilts were for them after she died. From what Carrie can remember, the one for her was a tulip or flower applique. One of the others may have been a whole cloth quilt.

If you know anything about these quilts, please contact Carrie through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
