In August 2010, Jenny Gallo reported the loss of a 3 ft by 5 ft banner with a Disciples of Christ logo. It was last seen during late July 2010 in Midwest, US. It was stolen along with the contents of a U-Haul.

In November 2011, Jenny emailed to say the quilt had been recovered!

The main colors of this banner are green, blue, red, and gold with a white border. It has a label that says “Carrot Top Studio.” The label is stitched into a seam, probably along the top edge on the back.

 

Circle Game

Circle Game by Lynn B. WelschLynn B. Welsch hopes someone can help her recover her original quilt called “Circle Game.” It was last seen on August 10, 2011 when it was shipped by FedEx Ground to the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas. The last bar code scan of the package was made in Las Cruces, New Mexico. FedEx is suggesting she file a claim.

This origial quilt is 15″ square. It has a black background combined with purple, lavender, gold, orange, and lime green fabrics. It is a miniature art quilt, abstract design, with various sized overlapping and interwoven circles and bars. It is machine appliqued and machine quilted with rayon thread. It was made in 2010 and it has a label on the back with all of Lynn’s contact information.

Amy Sue Sunbonnet Quilt

Kristal KW Gaskell wonders if anyone has seen her Amy Sue Sunbonnet Quilt. It is purple and lavender. It is machine stitched, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. She made it as a school project in about 1985. The date is hand embroidered on the black in blue. Her initials “KW” are embroidered on her pocket in pink. Kristal sent it off to a youth competition for Parents Without Partners in Northeast Ohio. She received a blue ribbon for her quilt, but the quilt was never returned to her.

Kaaterskill by Janet Atkins

Janet Atkins needs help recovering her quilt, Kaaterskill. It was being returned to her in New York via 2nd Day Air from Golden, Colorado, but the shipping company can no longer locate the package. This quilt was last seen on February 16, 2011.

This quilt is 82″ by 82″. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted. Janet used a variety of reds, yellows, purples and greens. It is closely hand quilted with red and yellow thread. The backing is muslin. It has four central compass blocks surrounded by vines, a purple block border, and an outside vine border and it has a triangle outer edge. Janet worked on this quilt from 2005 to 2009. There is a label on the back with the quilt’s name, Janet’s name, her address, and her phone number.

The Times Union of Albany, New York picked up the story on March 17, 2011.

Let the Sunshine In by Anna Hergert

On December 15, 2010, Anna Hergert mailed her quilt, “Let the Sunshine In,” from Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada to Barrington, Rhode Island. She was donating the quilt to the UN Quilt Challenge for 2011. Sadly, this quilt didn’t arrive as expected.

On February 22, 2011 we received the wonderful news that this quilt has finally been delivered! The recipient wrote, “It is ironic since my husband ordered the reproduction of your quilt just yesterday! I am so glad since it is amazing beautiful in real life. I jumped for joy and I hope you will too!”

The quilt is 30″ high by 20″ wide. The main colors are blue, ochre, and deep purple. The quilt depicts a scene of Burkha-clad women. She appliqued sheer and opaque polyester fabrics over a hand painted canvas background. The quilt has a label hand stitched to the lower back corner which has the name of the quilt, Anna’s name and website URL.

Jackie Clegg would like to recover the Nintendo quilt she made for her son, Dan. It was last seen sometime around 2002 in her home. She believes it is possible that a former family member may have sold it or discarded it.

The quilt was made in 1989. It is machine pieced and hand appliqued. The Nintendo characters are freehand machine embroidery. It is about 60″ by 80″. The blocks are muslin. The sashing is purple. The hand quilting is done in red and ecru.

This quilt was one of Jackie’s first quilts that she made as a special gift for her son. It has sentimental value and she would offer a reward to get it back. If you have seen this quilt, please contact Jackie at JackieClegg@dishmail.net.

Magic Tiles Quilt by Shirley Ann Black

Jill Black is hoping someone has found her Magic Tiles Quilt which was made for her by her mother, Shirley Ann Black. The quilt was last seen in June 2004. It was safely packed in a box that was mistakenly taken to Goodwill or St. Vincent de Paul’s when Jill and her husband were moving to Indiana.

This quilt is about 36″ by 60″. The main colors are purples, browns, and blues. It is machine quilted. It has a label on the back of the quilt which identifies Jill and Shirley Ann, in addition to the fact that it was made in a Diane Stevensen class in January 1998.

Heather Walter is hoping someone has found this knit quilt which she made for an 8-year-old girl. The quilt was last seen on June 19, 2010 in Massachusetts. Heather asked someone to sew a piece of fabric to the back and after she took it, Heather hasn’t heard from her since. She has been contacted, but is not responding.

There are a total of eleven different yarns used in this quilt. Each square is knit with one color, either half and half across the diagonal, half striped and half solid, or all striped. The squares are then seamed together with black embroidery floss. The main colors are blues, pinks, purples, and some yellow. The border is crocheted in purple.

Katie's Graduation Quilt by Sandii Street

Sandii Street was hoping to recover Katie’s Graduation Quilt. It was last seen on February 22, 2010 in Valparaiso, Indiana. It was being sent by a shipping company when they told Sandii the quilt was destroyed by fire.

Sandii made the quilt from a commercial pattern. It is 108″ by 120″. It is machine pieced and machine quilted in 2009. The main colors are purple, pink, lime green, white, blue, and turquoise. She used very bright, primary colors which she calls “so loud you need sunglasses.” It was supposed to be a graduation gift for her granddaughter, and it was near completion when it was destroyed.

This quilt, though burned, has now been returned.

 

Bright Jazz

Bright Jazz by Marilyn Kirschen

Marilyn Kirschen hopes to recover her quilt called “Bright Jazz” which is her original design. It was last seen on January 14, 2010 in the Seattle, Washington area. A shipping company dropped it off at Marilyn’s home on January 19, but the quilt was not at her home when she returned that evening.

 The 24″ x 30″ quilt was made in 2009.  The main colors include a yellow orange graduated fabric along with blues, greens, and purples. This quilt is machine appliqued and quilted. It also has couched yarns and beaded embellishments.
