Johnny's Teddy Bear Quilt by Cathy Smith

Melissa Bair is looking for a baby quilt that Cathy Smith made for Johnny Bair. It was made from a pastel blue, green, and beige teddy bear panel. The three teddy bears are made out of plush fabric and the quilt has the name “Johnny” embroidered in the center. It is about 36″ by 48″, and it is signed on the back of a solid square.

This quilt was last seen on July 18, 2010 at Courtyard of Marriott on Southport Road in Indianapolis, Indiana. The quilt was accidentally left behind in a hotel room, but it was not turned in by the housekeeping staff.

If you find this quilt, please contact Melissa at bair04@verizon.net.

Danielle Boskamp hopes that someone has found a quilt that was lost during a move. The quilt was last seen on March 19, 2009 where it was on the bed in the nursery. This quilt may have accidentally been taken on the trip, or left behind. In any case, the owner is missing it terribly.

This vintage quilt is single bed size in pastel colors, mainly flowerly materials. The blocks are arranged in a Trip Around the World pattern.

If you can help, please contact Danielle through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.

Recovered! Signature Quilt Top

Sep 27 2007

Janet Avants found a signature quilt top while cleaning out her grandfather’s house after he recently passed away. None of the names on the quilt are family, and no one in the family recognizes the names as friends or acquaintances, so they decided to try to find who it might belong to. The quilt was discovered in 2006 in San Angelo, Texas. It is about 71" by 79". There are five rows of four blocks each, set on point. Each block is a patchwork of print and white fabric. The prints are all different. The background fabric is a pastel teal. A couple of the blocks include the date 1942, but the fabric seems to be from a later date. It is machine pieced. Names on the quilt are:

  • The Turner’s
  • Anna Colvin
  • Margie and Harry Mifflin
  • Ben & Nadine
  • Lois Colvin
  • Hartmann
  • Ollie Mae
  • Betty Warren
  • Mrs. Otis Brackin 1942
  • Mr & Mrs Victor Bruderer
  • Alva & Bill Blackerby
  • Lyn B. Willoughby
  • The Brays
  • The SA Blackerby’s
  • Mr & Mrs. GE Teel
  • George Phillips/Blanch Phillips
  • Gilbert’s Joe Shaws Mrs. J.W./ Ruth & Jerry McMains 1942 Sue Welch

Happily, in September 2007 this quilt was given to the family of Mrs. Otis Brackin. The family knew several of the other people on the list as well. Suzi Brackin Campbell wrote, "This was like a miracle to us and Janet is an angel."

Pastel Double Wedding Ring

Sep 12 2007

Diana Sullins Fatzinger would like to locate a Pastel Double Wedding Ring that was made by her grandmother, Eva Mae Newman. This is a twin size quilt that is made of pastels, primarily pinks, on an ivory background. It is made from fabrics from Diana’s childhood dresses. There were also three twin size quilts made of primary colors using traditional designs. One may have been a sampler quilt.

These quilts are machine pieced and hand quilted sometime around 1955-1960. They were last seen in June 1962 with the friends or relatives of Joel and Jewell Sullins of Louisville, Kentucky. The quilts were given away when her family moved to Arizona.

Please contact Diana through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.

Marica Odom is hoping to recover her pastel sampler quilt. In December 2006 she brought the pieced top, backing and batting to a quilt shop so it could be quilted. The quilter went out of the room to get change for a customer and when she returned the quilt materials were missing. The customer was not contacted because they were a new customer. Others were contacted, but no one knew anything about the missing quilt.

This machine pieced quilt is approximately 60″ by 72″. The blocks used include Rail Fence, Double Nine Patch, Shoo Fly, Monkey Wrench, Jacob’s Ladder, Ohio Star, Card Trick, Lily, Star in a Star, Wedding Ring, Bear’s Paw, and Drunkard’s Path. The main colors are pastel pink, blue, green, and lavendar, shown in the fabric swatch to the left. It has a yellow border.

Please contact Marcia through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page if you know anything about this quilt.

Fish Quilt

Feb 07 2007

Fish Quilt by Linda Hynick

Fish Quilt by Linda Hynick

Linda Hynick’s granddaughter’s fish quilt was lost in a move from Phoenix to El Mirage, Arizona on November 21, 2006. The moving company was Starving Students, but they say they do not have the quilt.

Logan’s baby quilt is about 36″ by 45″. It is machine pieced and hand pieced. There are blue, yellow, green, and purple fish. The first border has a yellow background with sea-life fabric. There are two areas where a gold fabric was used. Logan’s name is embroidered or written on one of those gold’s areas. The second border is aqua and the binding is dark, probably navy.

The second missing quilt is a flannel rag style quilt. There are pastel fabrics and baby prints on the rag side of the quilt. The backside (non-rag side) is darker winter fabrics.

If you find this quilt, please contact Linda at lhynick@hotmail.com.

Pastel Basket Quilt

Jan 15 2007

Jodi Longobardo is searching for a Pastel Basket Quilt that was made by her great-great-aunt or her great-great-grandmother. It was owned by her great-grandmother. No one knows what became of it after she passed away. Jodi has been searching for it, but no one remembers taking it. It was on her great-grandmother’s bed when she was a little girl and she remember sleeping under it many times. She is hopeful she could recover it because it would have extreme sentimental value to her.

Jodi’s quilt is full to queen size. The main colors are pastel yellow, white and other pastel colors. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Jodi last saw this quilt around 1980 at her great-grandmother’s house in Morrisville, Pennsylvania.

If you see a quilt that fits this description, please contact Jodi through the Lost Quilt Come Home Page.
